19 Nov 2025 ~ BLUE RIBBONS

19 Nov 2025 ~ BLUE RIBBONS

This morning, while thinking about Sarah’s roses, blue ribbons come to mind. Why? I honestly don’t know. I have no idea what blue ribbons represent. Why indeed would I think of ribbons, and why should they be blue? (Luckily, I have Google.)

“A blue ribbon can symbolize several different causes, most notably the prevention of child abuse, where it represents the blue bruises of a child victim. It also symbolizes support for deaf people, promoting solidarity, and raising awareness for issues like human trafficking, bullying, and various health conditions such as prostate and thyroid cancer. Lastly, the color is associated with awareness for those in recovery from addiction.

The blue ribbon is most widely recognized as the symbol for the National Exchange Club's project to prevent child abuse. It was adopted in 1989, stemming from a grandmother who tied a blue ribbon to her car antenna to honor her grandson who died from abuse, with the blue representing the color of his bruises.” (Google)

Oh WOW!!!

This is absolutely in line with everything that has been going through my mind these past few weeks. It brings back memories of being bullied in school and how it changed my life and impacted my personality and behavior. It not just bruised me, it scarred me…

It made me wonder, what would we see if everyone of us would tie a blue ribbon to our car antenna for every adversity that scarred us in our lifetime?
