All I Truly Have
Share
The present moment, this is all I truly have. Yes, there are people I am connected to, my dear wife, and children I love, parents, family, etc. Yes, there are things I possess, not much, but there are things. Of course these people and things are not necessarily a direct part of the present moment. And, in the future, they might not be part of present moments at all.
Present moments are not static. They are dynamic, always shifting with every second that ticks by. To keep up with them, one needs to be dynamic too. You need to intentionally move along with the hands on the clock, and be present to make the most of every moment. If you don’t, present moments become wasted past moments.
Why might one not be present? There are two possibilities. You are either stuck in a past moment, or you are venturing into future moments.
You get stuck in a past moment when your thoughts keep going back to something that was, or someone who passed, things that happened, or things that were said. You are drawn into the future when you worry about things that have not happened yet, and might not happen ever, or that might happen but not even close to what you expected.
To remember and to worry are human. All of us remember the past and worry about the future from time to time. The danger is that one might fixate so much on past and future moments that you miss the magic and wonder of what is right in front of you right now.
The present moment is all I truly have. Making the most of it is my top priority!
