Color in my footprints

Color in my footprints

The Cosmos in my garden are flowering. I sown the seeds, that I harvested from wildflowers, a few months ago. What is interesting is that all of the seeds did not germinate. Only those that I stepped on in the process of sowing came up, and they are now making blooms. They literally produced color in my footprints.

On my journey of finding meaning in the mundane, this inevitably rang a bell. If adding color to life is something I only do to benefit myself, does it serve any valuable purpose? Does it create a life worth living, or does it only make my miserable life more bearable?

I have to admit, if adding color to life only serves the purpose of helping me find the beauty in life and be more positive, it does only make my own life more bearable. One might argue that this is then only a selfish act of self indulgence, void of any true meaning.

Adding color to life can never just be an act of being kind to yourself. Value is only added when kindness is shown to others in order for them to also have some color added to their existence. And kindness is absolutely essential in a dark and cruel world.

The cosmos in my garden reminded me to leave color in my footprints. Wherever I go, I need to be mindful of adding color to life…
